Based on a file available on many peer-to-peer file sharing networks, "The BIG Herbal Encyclopedia.txt", The Apothecarium Herbal Encyclopaedia is an organic document. Information has been gleaned from websites, books, nurseries and plant shops, courses, friends and online communities and simple experimentation. Not everyone's experience with a herb has been the same, and this is an attempt to document uses that may not appear in main stream texts.
Like the
apothecarium, there are three main focus points of the Encyclopaedia, Medicinal, Magickal and Epicureal - that is, herbs used as part of a treatment, as part of a ritual, or as part of a dish. Each of these points are important, some herbs will have more information in one area than the others, but many of these herbs can be used comprehensively in each of the three ways.
Note: The Encyclopaedia does not have any religious connections. The contributors come from many and varied backgrounds and all of these are attempted to be portrayed.
Do not take this document as gospel. If you are sick, see a doctor.
Before you use a herb, whether internally or externally, read up on it as much as you can. All attempts will be made to mark known 'dangerous' herbs as such, but anyone can be allergic to any thing, so be careful. Find out how much to take, how to take it, and why to take it. Find out if the herb will interact with any medications you are already on, whether they be conventional or alternative.
And remember, some herbs are just not meant for internal use. Please, be careful what you put in your body - it could do more harm than good!
Your body is your temple. Take care of it.
